BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State jumped out to a double-digit lead less than five minutes into the contest and cruised from there as the Jackrabbits pummeled Georgia State, 105-58, on Friday inside First Bank & Trust Arena. The matchup, played in front of 2,641 fans, was part of the Cancun Challenge multi-team event.Â

SDSU never trailed in the contest.
Matthew Mors hit a 3-pointer 15 seconds into the affair for the Jackrabbits and Georgia State followed with a field goal to make it 3-2. A nine-point scoring run for the Jacks put them ahead 12-2 at the 15:20 mark of the first half.Â

Another scoring stretch for the Jacks, this time 12 straight points, put SDSU up 24-4 just over eight minutes into the half.
Trey Buchanan knocked down a 3-pointer right before the halftime buzzer to give SDSU a 53-19 halftime advantage.Â

The Jacks outshot the Panthers 62-28% from the floor and outrebounded Georgia State 25-11 in the opening 20 minutes.

Georgia State kept the second half competitive to start. The Panthers cut the deficit to under 30 points 10 minutes into the second half. However, a 13-0 run late in the second half ballooned the lead to over 40.Â

The Jackrabbits shot over 61% from the field each half and finished with a 61.7% clip. That field goal percentage, which came on 37 of 60 shooting, was tied for the 10th best during SDSU's Division I era. SDSU also had 28 assists as a team. That total was tied for the second most by the program in a single game, trailing only the 32 notched against Savannah State on Dec. 11, 2018.

South Dakota State's 47-point victory is its highest against a Division I opponent since that contest versus Savannah State, which the Jackrabbits won, 139-72.

SDSU improved to 4-2 in the victory. Georgia State fell to 1-5 overall.

- Five Jackrabbits scored in double digits. Matthew Mors led the way with 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Damon Wilkinson followed with a career-high 17 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Buchanan and Joe Sayler each had 15 points, while Jaden Jackson added 14.Â
- Sayler and Kalen Garry had six assists apiece. Both guards set career highs with those marks. Jackson followed with a season-high five assists and Alec Squires set a career high with four assists.
- SDSU outrebounded Georgia State by a 43-22 margin. The Panthers were held to 33.3% from the field and 6 of 32 from 3-point range. The Jackrabbits recorded season highs in 3-pointers made (14) and in percentage (46.7%).Â
