THREE JACKS TAKE INDIVIDUAL AWARDS, FOUR NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-LEAGUE

BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State takes home several indoor track and field awards, including MVP, Most Outstanding Performer, and Scholar of the Championship, as announced by the league April 1.
Following the indoor championship, Caiden Fredrick earned the title of men's Field Championship MVP after putting up 14 points to assist the Jackrabbits in claiming the conference title. Fredrick is the sixth Jackrabbit to earn this award.
After the season wrapped up, the Summit League coaches voted Cody Larson as the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship. Larson secured two first-place finishes at the championship. The junior kicked off the meet with a new Summit League meet record in the 3,000-meter with a time of 8:08.64. Less than a day later, Larson set an SDSU program record in the 5,000-meter, crossing the line at 13:55.99.
Rod DeHaven was awarded Summit League Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career with the Jackrabbits.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), have completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
