SEVEN JACKS EARN ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT AWARDS

BROOKINGS, S.D. - Seven athletes from the South Dakota State wrestling and men's and women's golf teams were honored Tuesday on the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® At Large Teams.

Representing the Jackrabbit wrestling team are:

Cade DeVos - Wrestling - Interdisciplinary Studies, Pharmacy - 6th Year
Bennett Berge - Wrestling - Construction Management - R-So.
Derrick Cardinal - Wrestling - Exercise Science, Pre-Med - Jr.

DeVos picked up his third CSC Academic All-District honor, while Cardinal and Berge each picked up their second Academic All-District honor. All three have been selected to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration in July.

The honorees from the men's and women's golf teams are:

Drew Teeter - Men's Golf - Mechanical Engineering - So.
Shakira-Ann Kuys - Women's Golf - Psychology - Sr.
Piper Stubbs - Women's Golf - Political science, Criminology - Sr.
McKenzie Mages - Women's Golf - Communication Studies - Jr.

Kuys, Stubbs and Mages each picked up their second CSC Academic All-District honors, while Teeter was honored for the first time in his collegiate career.

To be nominated for Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing and carry at least a 3.50 grade-point average.

The at-large squad is made up of student-athletes competing in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, skiing, tennis, water polo and wrestling.
