BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team topped Wyoming 3-1 Sunday afternoon at First Bank & Trust Arena in the final game of the SDSU Invitational presented by Canine Country Club.
The Jackrabbits only outscored the Cowgirls 99-96 in total points across all four sets. SDSU dropped the opening set, 25-20, but took the next three 28-26, 25-21, 26-24. The sides were evenly matched in every statistical category with the Jacks managing a slight edge nearly across the board. Notably, SDSU had the advantage in kills (60-58) and blocks (9-8) while Wyoming out-aced SDSU, 6-5.
SDSU had four players reach double-digit kills and three Jacks posted at least 10 digs. Sylvie Zgonc led the bunch with 15 kills and 12 digs, the only double-double of the match. Hannah Klein notched a career-best 14 kills, followed by Madison Burr with 12 kills and Sydni Schetnan with 10.
Schetnan hit .471 for the match and recorded five total blocks. Burr added three blocks while Klein and Rylee Martin had two apiece.
Martin dished a season-high 46 assists and chipped in nine digs. She also posted a career-high five kills. Rachel Wieber paced SDSU with 12 digs and Maggie Meister added 10.
Joslyn Richardson recorded a pair of ace serves, bringing her season total to nine aces through four matches played.
Wyoming's Addy Cook led all players with 19 kills. Libero Skylar Erickson had a match-best 17 digs.

The Jackrabbits travel to Minneapolis next weekend for the Diet Coke Classic hosted by Minnesota. SDSU takes on Dayton on Friday, South Florida on Saturday and Minnesota on Sunday.
