South Dakota State travels to St. Paul for an 8 p.m. Thursday matchup against St. Thomas. The Jackrabbits will compete in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, the new home of the Tommies, for the first time.Â
A year ago, the two sides split their regular season meetings. The first matchup in St. Paul saw the matchup go down to the wire in the Tommies' Schoenecker Arena. SDSU had a
Matthew Mors 3-pointer fall through the net, but it came after the buzzer sounded, handing St. Thomas a 73-72 victory on Jan. 8. The rematch on Feb. 6 in Brookings saw SDSU espond from a halftime deficit to close out a 102-86 win.Â
SDSU is 16-9 all-time against St. Thomas. That includes a 7-2 record since the Tommies joined The Summit League. Both UST victories have come in St. Paul, with the Tommies also winning the 2023 matchup, 60-54.Â
St. Thomas enters Thursday's game at 15-5 overall. The Tommies are 4-1 in Summit League action following their first loss in conference play. In a battle of undefeateds last Saturday, UST fell at North Dakota State, 68-65. Nolan Minessale, who averages a team-best 20.7 points per game, scored 16. Nick Janowski, who leads the Tommies' scoring in league competition at 21.6 points, tied a Division I program record of 32 points in a win last Thursday at North Dakota.
The Jackrabbits are 3-2 in The Summit League, and 10-10 overall, following their 90-62 victory against Kansas City this past Saturday. After a 76-65 defeat at NDSU on Jan. 14, SDSU returned home and were locked in a tight contest versus the Roos 32 minutes in. SDSU used a 15-point scoring run to pull away, and outscored Kansas City by 24 over the final eight minutes, to close out the win. SDSU is now 7-1 in First Bank & Trust Arena this season.Â
