BROOKINGS, S.D. —Cody Larson takes home the 3000-meter program record, assisting the South Dakota State men's team to a second place finish with 156 points, while the women's team placed second with 100 points.
HEAD COACH ROD DEHAVEN "It was a great day at track and field here inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. I think both the men's and women's group competed hard, particularly the women's sprints group had a nice day. The women's throws group capped off a good weekend and other event groups had some shining areas as well. I think the men's side wasn't a perfect day, but it was good, and good to get going with some folks. I think the throws group on the men's side had a really nice weekend as well with the discus on Friday night and then some big throws in the weight throw today. The message of the team is that we gotta keep getting better and be consistent at the same time, so we'll see what kind of progress we get next week."
Larson placed second overall in the 3000-meter race with a time of 8:03.10, besting Ben Olson's previous record of 8:04.17. This is the second program record Cody has broken this season as the senior previously claimed the 5000-meter record at the BU Opener in early December.
