VERMILLION — Aubrey Douds recorded a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley Friday to lead the South Dakota State women's swimming and diving team on the opening night of the Coyote Invite at the USD Natatorium.
A senior from Des Moines, Iowa, Douds swam the event for the first time this season and clocked a time of 2 minutes, 7.99 seconds to place fourth out of 41 finishers.
The Jackrabbits also received a pair of top-10 finishes in two freestyle events. In the 50 freestyle, Mia Pendleton placed fifth out of 72 competitors with a time of 24.24 seconds, while Jenna Currier finished seventh in :24.34.
In the 500 freestyle, Elyse Jahn turned in a sixth-place finish with a time of 5:12.72, with Hannah Miller placing ninth in 5:18.34.

Competition at the Coyote Invitational concludes Saturday. Swimming sessions are slated for 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., with diving taking place at 2 p.m.
