INDIANAPOLIS — South Dakota State 125-pounder
Brady Roark received an at-large bid to the NCAA Wrestling Championships on Tuesday, the NCAA announced.
A redshirt sophomore from Seneca, Mo., Roark went 20-7 this year and 9-2 in duals. He wrestled six matches at the Big 12 Championships last weekend, going 3-3 overall as the 4-seed, taking sixth at 125 pounds. The Big 12 only allocated five spots at the weight class, so Roark needed an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. It is the first time Roark has qualified for the Big Dance.
In addition to Roark,
Cale Seaton was named as an alternate for the 133-pound weight class. Seaton is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship, in a 133-pound weight class that allocated seven spots. Seaton holds a 16-11 record overall and a 7-8 record in duals. He will need a spot to open up at the NCAA Tournament to enter the field.Â
Five other Jackrabbits have already punched their tickets to the NCAA Wrestling Championships through qualification at the Big 12 Tournament.
Julian Tagg,
Cael Swensen,
Moses Espinoza-Owens,
Bennett Berge and
Luke Rasmussen will join
Brady Roark among the field of 33 wrestlers at their respective weights.Â
The NCAA Wrestling Championships take place on March 19th through the 21st at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
