BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - The South Dakota State women's golf team finished second at its home event - the Spring Jackrabbits Invitational in Memory of Gayle Baker - Tuesday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
McKenzie Mages and
Molly O'Hara placed in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.
The Jackrabbits posted an 865 (+1) final team score to finish 13 shots behind University of Las Vegas, which placed first.Â
Mages led the Jacks, finishing 5-under par for her 54 holes and five birdies during the third round. The senior's 211 final scorecard set a new program record as the best 54-hole tally in program history. She placed in a tie for second, four shots behind Pin Hsi Chen of UNLV, who finished first.Â
O'Hara maintained her position placing eighth through three rounds, tallying a +2 final scorecard.
Riko Danjo posted a +5 three-round tally to finish tied for 14th.
Reese Jansa finished one shot back from Danjo to place in a tie for 20th (+6).
Hannah Boraas tied for 30th (+9).Â
The Jackrabbits had three players competing individually.
Samantha Stites ended 10-over par to place tied for 36th, marking her best score on the tournament for round three (+2).
Hannah Pettitt finished tied for 54th (+24), followed by
Shelby McCord finishing 58th (+25).Â
SDSU finished ahead of Summit League foes St. Thomas, Oral Roberts and Omaha which finished fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively.Â
NOTES
- The Jackrabbits tallied a par score on 178 holes, the most of all participating teams.Â
- McKenzie Mages now holds three of the top seven 54-hole scores in program history.Â
- Mages tied for second on par-5 holes, averaging 4.58 shots.Â
