A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Maggie Smither serves as a volunteer assistant coach for the Jackrabbit soccer team. Smither will work with SDSU's goalkeepers in an area where she ranks among the best ever in the program's history.Â
Smither was selected as a three-time Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year from 2017-19 and was named to the All-Summit League First Team all three of those seasons. She claimed seven Summit League Defensive Player of the Week accolades during her tenure as an athlete in Brookings and was thrice picked as the Summit League Athlete of the Month. She also was a United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team pick in 2018 and earned Summit League All-Tournament Team honors in 2016 and 2019.Â
Smither produced a career-high 10 saves on two occasions. Heading into the 2022 season, Smither still owns the single-season program records in wins (14), shutouts (14), games played and started (21) and minutes played (1,903). She also holds career records in saves (298), wins (44), shutouts (32), games played (78), games started (68) and minutes played (6,374).Â
