The men's swimming and diving team takes the win over the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. The Jackrabbits came away with a solid win with a score of 130 and USD totaled 97 points.
Sophomore Josh Mueller placed first after he glided through the water and posted a time of 9:15.60 in the 800 freestyle and freshman Ryan Willet came in second with a 9:27.81.
Sophomore Mark Garrigues won the 200 freestyle event after he swam a 2:02.42 and he was followed by sophomore Colby Lee with a time of 2:04.80.
Mario Politio made his SDSU swimming debut in the 50 freestyle and swam a time of :25.13 and was followed by senior Bryce Sinclair (26.13) and junior Tyler Hadleigh (26.59).
Junior Chris Holzwarth kicked off his season with a first-place finish in the 200 IM after he won the race with a time of 2:19.02.
Senior Chad Thomsen came in second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.04 and sophomore Josh Mueller came in at third with a time of 1:01.60.
Mark Garrigues (54.76) won the 100 freestyle event and teammate Mario Polito (56.23) landed in second-place.
During the 100 backstroke Chris Holzwarth won the event after he swam a 1:02.67.
Josh Mueller took first-place in the 400 freestyle after he put a 4:26.95 on the scoreboard and Ryan Willett came in second after posting a 4:34.46.
Nearing the end of the evening SDSU dominated the first two spots of the 100 breaststroke with Chad Thomsen winning the event in 1:06.12 and Chris Holzwarth came in second with a 1:09.41.
During the relay events the Jackrabbit ?A' team (Garrigues, Thomsen, Lee and Polito) took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.49. In the 200 freestyle relay the SDSU ?A' team (Peters, Manning, Tyler, Lee) placed second with a time of 1:44.31.
The Jacks have a break until November 17 when they head up to Minneapolis, Minn., for the three-day tournament the Minnesota Invitational.
