FARGO, N.D. ? Two Utah Valley State players tallied double figures in kills to sweep South Dakota State by a score of 30-28, 30-21 and 30-25 at the Independent tournament Friday night.
Kristina Martin was the lone SDSU player in double figures for kills with 10 (10 kills, 4 errors in 30 attempts). She also chipped in with eight digs. Both Amy Anderson and Laura Slagter added eight kills.
Kristie Klusaw was credited with 33 set assists, while also making eight digs. SDSU was out-hit in the match .230 to .160, despite recording a .314 attack percentage in Game 1.
Camie Manwill led Utah Valley State, 17-10 overall, with a match-high 13 kills. Jessica Andrews added a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs. The Wolverines also served 11 aces compared to SDSU's two.
SDSU, 22-11 on the year, will wrap up its season Saturday, when it completes the Independent tournament with a match against North Dakota State. Start time is set for 5 p.m. at Bentson Bunker Field House in Fargo.
North Dakota State dropped a five-game match to IPFW earlier in the day. NDSU setter Mattie Johnson recorded 82 assists in the match.
