MILWAUKEE, Wis. ? South Dakota State held UW-Milwaukee scoreless for the second half, but fell to the Panthers 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Engelmann Field.
UW-Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute of the match as Sara Teegarden scored off an assist from Erin Kreuser. Freshman Natasha Swift looked to put the Jacks on the board early in the first half, but saw both of her shot attempts saved by Erin Kane.
The SDSU goalkeeper tandem of Jenn Davis and Nicole Lograsso stopped four shots apiece, while Kane saved two balls.
SDSU was outshot in the match 16-5, including a 6-4 advantage in the first half.
The shutout in the second half marked the second consecutive game the Jackrabbits have held an opponent scoreless for a half.
SDSU moved to 3-5-1 on the year, while UW-Milwaukee improved to 7-2-1 on the season.
South Dakota State will travel to Montana next weekend to face Northern Colorado at the Montana Nike Cup. Start time for the match against the Bears is set for Sept. 29 at 2:30 p. m. MT. The Jacks will follow that up with a match Oct. 1 against host school Montana at noon MT.
