Jackrabbit riders sweep duals

MARTIN, Tenn. -- The South Dakota State University women's equestrian team opened the spring portion of its schedule by sweeping duals from Tennessee-Martin and Delaware State over the weekend.
The Jackrabbits won three of four events to defeat Delaware State, 1,137.5-1,050.5, and Tennessee-Martin by a 1,137.5 to 1,120 count.
SDSU swept the Western events as Ashlie Centa earned high-point honors in horsemanship with a score of 76. Anna Taylor tied for first in the reining competition with 73.5 points.
In English competition, Erin Broussard turned in a high-point score of 81 in equitation on the flat to lead a Jackrabbit victory in the event.
The Jackrabbits came up short in the equitation over fences competition, despite a team-best score of 73 by freshman Dacota Huzzen.
In other competition, Allison Carie qualified for the IHSA Regionals with a first-place finish in intermediate equitation on Saturday at an IHSA Hunt Seat competition in River Falls, Wis. She placed fourth in her class on Sunday, while Kristen Carlson placed fourth in novice equitation on Saturday.
Carie and Kaylee DeVries will represent SDSU at the upcoming IHSA Regionals March 3-4 in Crookston, Minn.
The Jackrabbit Western team will be in action Feb. 24 with two competitions at Nebraska.
