BROOKINGS, S.D.-- The South Dakota State University women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches Friday afternoon to pick up a 6-1 victory over Sioux Falls at Hillcrest Courts.
The Jackrabbits used victories at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots to defeat the Cougars. SDSU won two of the three doubles matches.
In singles action, senior Kristine Hagdorn closed out her career blanking Catherine Goraj in two-sets by a 6-4, 7-5 score. Jennifer Sondreal followed with a two-set 6-2, 6-1 victory over Meggie Gough at No. 3 singles. After Caitlin Brannen upended Jennifer Baker, 6-1, 6-2, sophomore Amy Albrecht downed Mateja Caselli, 6-0, 6-0. Carrie Jansen closed out singles play upending Keri Eulberg, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Kate Wylie teamed with Brannen to defeat Gough and Baker, 8-1. Rachel Schmieding and Jansen ended doubles play with a 8-0 victory over Caselli and Eulberg at No. 3 doubles.
South Dakota State concluded its spring season with a 5-10 record. For the season, SDSU secured Division I victories over Chicago State twice and UMKC.
