ROCHESTER, Mich. ? Mark Garrigues turned in a fourth-place performance in the 200-yard individual medley and the Jackrabbit 200 freestyle relay team set a school record to highlight the first day of competition for the South Dakota State University men's squad at The Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships.

SDSU also picked up points in the 500 freestyle, where three Jackrabbits swam in the consolation finals. Josh Mueller led the SDSU contingent with a ninth-place time of 4:42.94. Mark Sandager and Ryan Willett placed 15th and 16th with respective times of 4:53.31 and 4:54.12.
The Jackrabbits opened the meet by establishing a new school record in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of John Bisson, Hadleigh Tyler, Sandager and Chris Holzwarth combined for a time of 1:27.08 to place fifth in the event.
SDSU's 400 medley relay team was disqualified in the final event of the evening to contribute to the Jackrabbits standing sixth out of six teams with 55 points after the first of three days of competition.
