Jackrabbit women come back to down MSU-Billings

FORT WAYNE, Ind. ? The South Dakota State University women's tennis team picked up its first Summit League victory, opening cluster play Friday morning with a 6-2 victory over Centenary (La.).

The Jackrabbits later lost a 4-0 decision to Western Illinois to move to 2-13 on the season and 1-4 against Summit League opponents.

Against Centenary, the Jackrabbits won four out of six singles matches and both completed doubles matches. Jennifer Sondreal and Caitlin Brannen each won their singles matches, then teamed for a victory at No. 2 doubles. Nellie Bloomberg and Amy Sanborn also won in singles play, with Bloomberg teaming with Carrie Jansen for a victory at No. 3 doubles.

SDSU resumes Summit League cluster play Saturday afternoon against Oral Roberts (Okla.).
