Senior Sasha Porter broke the school 3-meter diving record and junior Alexandra Hoffman was a part of five winning events as the South Dakota State women's swimming and diving team went undefeated in a triangular against Northern Iowa, 140-100, 125-98, and against Northern Colorado, 120-120, 113.5-109.5, on Saturday at the HPER Center Pool.
Porter won the 3-meter diving event with 249.65 points to break the SDSU record that she set for the third time two weeks ago at Iowa State.
Hoffman won her first individual swim taking the 200-yard backstroke in 2 minutes, 9.23 seconds. She also finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:55.84) and the 100 freestyle (53.49 sec.) for her 20th career win.
In relays, Hoffman, along with Ashley Valdez, Rachel Musser and Christina Gerometta won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.23. In the 200 medley relay, Jessica Ferley, Katie Budahl, Valdez and Hoffman placed first in 1:50.94. A time of 4:01.90 was good enough to win the 400 medley relay started by Ferley, Budahl, Valdez and anchored by freshman Anna Howard.
Budahl would go on to win two individual events; the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.54 and the 100 breaststroke finishing in 1:06.76. The Mitchell, S.D. native had a combined seven wins the those two events so far this season.
Ferley won his first career 200 freestyle event with a winning time of 1:57.59. Including her relay wins, the sophomore from Rapid, City, S.D. has now won 15 events in her short career.
Valdez would tie with Tori Gutt of Northern Colorado to win the 100 butterfly clocking in at 1:00.40.
The Jacks return to the pool this Thursday when they will compete in the Husker Invitational at Lincoln, Neb. The event ends on Sunday, Nov. 22.
