SIOUX FALLS ?
Camden Helder and
Ben Jasinski placed one-two in the high jump, breaking the meet and South Dakota State records at the 85th annual Howard Wood Dakota Relays, held Friday and Saturday at Howard Wood Field.
Helder and Jasinski both cleared 7 feet 0.50 inches, with Helder taking home first-place honors on Saturday due to fewer misses. The mark breaks the old Howard Wood meet record of 7-00.25. The mark also breaks the SDSU school record of 7-00.00 set by Brian Hogan in 1979. The height is a Summit League best by almost four inches this season.
Earlier in the day, Jasinski won the long jump with a leap of 22-9.25.
On Friday, Jasinski set another meet record and a regional qualifying standard in the triple jump with a mark of 51-03.00. His first-place jump is the second-best mark at SDSU and is the top mark in the Summit League in 2009.
Friday night,
Lora Shearer placed first in the high jump with a mark of 5-7. She also won Saturday's long jump event with a mark of 17-8.25
