THE SERIES: Friday's game will mark the eighth meeting between South Dakota State and UMKC, a series that began when the Jackrabbits posted a 75-73 victory at the Dial Classic in Brookings during the 1981-82 season..
The series, which SDSU leads 6-1 overall, resumed when the Jackrabbits joined The Summit League at the start of the 2007-08 season.
UMKC?picked up its first victory in the series with a 67-64 win in Kansas City on Jan. 11, 2010. Chazny Morris lead all players with 24 points for the Kangaroos, followed by 17 points from Jade Tinner and 10 by Simone Bridges.
Maria paced four SDSU players in double figures with 15 points. Ketty Cornemann scored 13, with Kristin Rotert and Jennie Sunnarborg each tallying 11.
In the rematch, on Feb. 6, 2010, at Frost Arena, the Jackrabbits employed a balanced attack and used a big second half to turn in a 76-47 victory. Jill Young came off the bench to sink four three-pointers en route to a team-high 14 points. Boever scored 13, with Macie Michelson adding 12. Sunnarborg and Rotert each chipped in with 10 as SDSU out-scored the Kangaroos 45-24 in the second half.
Kim Nezianya and Morris each posted double-doubles for UMKC; Nezianya tallying 16 points and 13 rebounds with Morris contributing 15 points and 10 boards.
