THE SERIES: Saturday's game will mark the sixth meeting between South Dakota State and Northern Iowa in women's basketball.
UNI won the initial meeting, 69-64, in Brookings during the 1979-80 season, then claimed a 73-43 victory over the Jackrabbits during the 1981-82 campaign.
SDSU has since taken a 3-2 series lead by winning all three matchups since joining the Division I ranks.

In last season's meeting, Kristin Rotert scored 22 of her game-high 24 points in the second half. Rotert finished the game 6-of-10 from the field and 10-of-12 at the free throw line.
Jill Young also reached double figures for the Jackrabbits with 10 points, while Leah Dietel narrowly missed a double-double by tallying nine points and 10 rebounds.
K.K. Armstrong came off the bench to lead UNI with 18 points. Kim Wypiszynski scored 14 and Jacqui Kalin added 10 for the Panthers.
VERSUS THE VALLEY: Since moving to the Division I level at the start of the 2004-05 season, the Jackrabbit women's basketball team has turned in a 7-4 overall record against Missouri Valley Conference opponents, including a 3-0 mark against UNI.
SDSU is 1-0 against teams from the Valley this season, claiming a 73-70 decision over Illinois State on Nov. 24 at Frost Arena.
COACHING CONNECTION: Jackrabbit assistant coach Katie (Miller) Falco will be going up against her alma mater and a former mentor in Saturday's game.
Falco, who played for the Panthers from 1999-2003, still holds the UNI record for career free throws made with 411 and ranks fifth in career scoring with 1,343 points.
Current Panther head coach Tanya Warren was an assistant coach at UNI during Falco's first two seasons.

COACH AARON JOHNSTON: Now in his 11th season as head coach of the South Dakota State University women's basketball team, Aaron Johnston has taken the Jackrabbit program to the top of NCAA Division II and is leading SDSU to national prominence at the Division I level.
Johnston enters Saturday's matchup against Northern Iowa with a career record of 251-80 (.758 winning percentage), ranking second on the SDSU career victories list behind his predecessor, Nancy Neiber, who compiled a 301-140 record in 16 seasons from 1985-2000. Johnston posted his 200th career victory on Dec. 4, 2008, against Centenary (La.) and No. 250 on Nov. 24, 2010, versus Illinois State. His career totals have included a 47-8 record (.855 winning percentage) in Summit League regular season games and a 16-6 mark (.727 winning percentage) in postseason games.
