Upcoming Event: Equestrian versus Yellow and Blue Scrimmage on September 20, 2025 at 9 a.m.

FARGO - Four South Dakota State Western Equestrian riders qualified for IHSA regionals with their performances in an IHSA show at North Dakota State over the weekend.
Senior Kaylee Mundwiler and sophomore Maggie Holzworth both qualified in open horsemanship, senior Tory Ruppert qualified in advanced horsemanship and Leah Bohlander qualified in novice horsemanship. Those four riders join Jackrabbit teammates Angela Gebhart, Britta Barta, Trisha Smeenk and Julie Corcoran who all qualified earlier in the season to compete at the IHSA regional show hosted by Minnesota-Crookston on March 7.
Mundwiler advanced with a second place finish in her section of open horsemanship, Ruppert and Smeenk both punched their ticket by winning their sections of advanced horsemanship, while Corcoran won her section of novice horsemanship on Saturday and Sunday to earn enough points to qualify. Barta finished second on both days in open reining to earn her place at the regional show.
In total, the Jackrabbits took home five first place finishes over the weekend, and added eight second, three third and one fourth place finish over the two day event against the Bison.
The Jackrabbit Western riders return to action on March 7 at the IHSA regional show in Crookston, Minn., the Jackrabbit English team travels to Wisconsin-River Falls on Feb. 13-14.
