"Too many errors put us in a deficits that were too big to overcome. We missed some defensive assignments in sets one and two," head coach Phil McDaniel said. "In set three, we came out more focused and played much better defense to start; however we were unable to maintain that level of play throughout the set."
Gibson (Clear Lake) had a team-high six kills and hit .250 while sophomore Kacey Herrmann (Rapid City) collected eight digs.
Kendall Kritenbrink led the Coyotes with a match-best 12 kills and Riley Haug recorded 12 digs.
