NASHVILLE, TENN. — The South Dakota State women's tennis team won its second-straight match in dominating fashion, blanking Tennessee State, 7-0, Tuesday morning.
"Both teams came ready to play from the first ball, which was awesome to see," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Our trip has had multiple venue and time changes due to the weather. In that situation, it can be easy to lose focus, and I am happy with the way we approached today and adapted the way we needed to in order to play our best tennis."
Across one doubles and five singles matches, the Jackrabbits only dropped a single game. Ffion Davies, Florencia Magni, Elif Gabb and Tiffany Filipovich swept their singles matches in straight sets, each winning, 6-0, 6-0. At first doubles, Iasmin Rosa and Davies posted a 6-0 victory.
The Tigers conceded two matches, at second doubles and sixth singles, due to injury. With the win, the Jackrabbits improve to 4-5 on the season. They return to action tomorrow when they play Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala. at 1 p.m.
South Dakota State's Tuesday match against North Alabama, scheduled for 9 a.m., was canceled due to weather.
