MARTIN, Tenn. – South Dakota State took six of the seven western points awarded and earned three more in the hunt seat events to secure a 9-6 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday in Martin, Tenn.
The Jackrabbits improve to 6-7 on the season with the win, including a perfect 3-0 mark in neutral site meets. The Pioneers don't keep updated win/loss records.
“We had some great rides today across the board, starting with fences and carrying us all the way through reining,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “We're excited about the win and intend to carry this momentum into practice and into the United Equestrian Conference Tournament in a few weeks.”
Angela Lopez completed a weekend sweep, and added her second MOP of the season with a score of 72.5 in horsemanship to improve to 3-1. Kelsey Swainston's 73.5 gives her two points on the weekend and boosts her record to 6-4-1, while senior Andie Vsetecka picked up her first-career victory with a score of 68.
Raivenne Scott earned second point of the weekend, her first MOP of the season, and third of her career, with a score of 68 in reining, which moves her to 7-4 on the season. Mariah Wright earned MOP honors on Friday, and followed that up with a meet-high score of 68 to bolster her record to 9-2-1. Miranda Sullivan also won her second point of the weekend with a score of 66.5 to improve to 6-2-3.
Seniors Marielle Golden and Jordan Goodall score the lone SDSU points over fences, with Golden's 85 leading the way and evening her fences record at 6-6. Goodall scored an 81 and moves to 5-1.
Taylor Duerr won the lone Jackrabbit point on the flat, carding a 74 to even her season record at 1-1.
The Jackrabbits get two weeks off before returning to action at the UEC Tournament on March 27-28 in Fresno, Calif.
