South Dakota State hit six home runs in a sweep of Mount Marty on Friday, including back-to-back-to-back bombs in the opener to set a new team single-season home run mark, adding one more in Game 1 and two more in Game 2 for a team total of 37, breaking the old mark of 34, set in 2003.
The Jackrabbits used the six home runs, along with six doubles and 29 total hits on the day to win the opener 9-1 and the nightcap 18-4, both in five innings.
SDSU improves to 17-24 with the sweep, while the Lancers fall to 10-25.
Devan Larsen went deep in both games to boost her SDSU single-season record to 13, finishing the day 3 for 5 at the plate with three RBI and five runs scored. Alyssa D'Agostino went yard in both games as well, boosting her season total to eight. She finished the day 3 for 7 at the dish with the two dingers, one double and four RBI.
Lauren Chirnside went a perfect 6 for 6 at the plat with a home run, a double, three RBI and four runs scored, while Christian McKone went 6 for 8 on the day with three each in runs scored and stolen bases.
Elyse Eitel hit her second home run of the season in the opener, adding a pair of doubles and a team-best five RBI on the day.
Katie Lang went the distance in Game 1, giving up one run on one hit with a pair of strikeouts for her first-career win, while Cassidy Vlot picked up her first win in a Jackrabbit uniform in Game 2. She gave up for runs, two earned, on one hit, with eight strikeouts and seven walks.
The Jacks get little time to bask in the sweep though, as SDSU returns to Summit League action on Saturday, when it starts a three game series with Fort Wayne, staring with a doubleheader at noon, followed by a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m.
