FARGO, N.D. – South Dakota State and North Dakota State traded 3-2 victories Saturday afternoon in doubleheader action to wrap up a three-game Summit League baseball series at Newman Outdoor Field.

The Jackrabbits won the opener behind eight shutout innings from starter Chris Anderson and J.D. Moore set a Summit League record with his 31^st career save. SDSU ended the day 30-19 overall and 17-10 in league play. NDSU moved to 18-28 overall, 9-18 in the Summit League.

In the opener, the Jackrabbits jumped out to 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Paul Jacobson and Zach Coppola opened the game with back-to-back singles and each moved up a base on a sacrifice bunt by Jesse Munsterman. Jacobson later scored on a wild pitch and Coppola crossed home plate on Matt Johnson's single to center field.

SDSU added an unearned run in the fifth. Eric Danforth reached on a bunt single, moved to second on an error and later scored on a groundout by Munsterman.

Anderson, meanwhile, limited NDSU to one hit through seven innings. The senior left-hander worked around a pair of walks a Danny Regan single to leave the bases loaded in the third. The Bison would not register another hit until the eighth, when they recorded three singles but again left the bases loaded after David Ernst lined out to second base to end the inning.

Moore entered in the bottom of the ninth and survived some anxious moments as he allowed a two-out, two-run double to J.T. Core that pulled NDSU to within a run. However, Moore induce a fly ball to center field off the bat of Danny Regan to end the game. Moore's 31st career save surpassed the previous Summit League mark of 30 saves set by Brett Davis of Illinois-Chicago from 1988-91.

Coppola, Johnson and Danforth each tallied two of the Jackrabbits' seven hits. Brayden Resch notched two of NDSU's seven hits.

Anderson struck out four and walked three in improving to 7-2 on the season. NDSU starter Trent Keefer struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven innings, but took the loss.

In Game 2 of the day, NDSU scored a run in each of the extra frames to pull out a 3-2, 11-inning victory.

Andy Wicklund started the game-winning rally by leading off the 11^th with a single. After a pitching change, Wicklund advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Paul Funk. SDSU reliever Talon Jumper then issued an intentional walk to pinch-hitter J.D. Larimer and Regan was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Resch delivered his third hit of the day, a single through the right side, to drive in Wicklund.

SDSU again took a first-inning lead as Paul Jacobson led off with a bunt single and scored on an infield single by Johnson.

After the Bison tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Regan, the contest turned into a pitchers' duel between the Jackrabbits' Ryan Froom and NDSU's Ernst. Froom scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out five over seven innings, while Ernst gave up seven hits and three walks to go along with four strikeouts over eight frames.

The game remain deadlocked at 1 until the Jackrabbits took a momentary 2-1 lead in the top of the 10^th. Jacobson recorded his third hit of the game before Coppola hooked a double down the right field line to put runners at second and third. Luke Ringhofer then reached on an error, which allowed Jacobson to score.

NDSU countered in the home half of the 10^th as Ben Petersen doubled to right-center off Andrew Clemen and Taylor Sanders followed with a run-scoring single up the middle to extend the game. Petersen was 3-for-5 as the Bison held a 12-11 advantage in the hit department.

Bison reliever Brian VanderWoude pitched the final three innings to earn the victory.

The Jackrabbits are scheduled to make another trip up I-29 Tuesday, traveling to the University of North Dakota for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.

NOTES: SDSU won the regular season series, 5-1 …each of the Jackrabbits' last three Summit League losses have been in extra-inning games … Coppola extended his streak of reaching base safely to 43 consecutive games, and his hitting streak to 13 … Danforth's streak of reaching base safely ended at 36 games in Game 2 as he went 0-for-5 … Ringhofer sat out Game 1, but upped his team-best hitting streak to 15 games with a single in Game 2 … Johnson ended the series 8-for-12 with a home run, five RBI and three runs scored … Jackrabbit starting pitchers combined for a 0.41 ERA (1 earned run in 22 innings) in the series … SDSU has won five consecutive Summit League series, starting with a sweep of NDSU April 10-12 … the Jackrabbits reached the 30-win mark for the 12^th time in program history
