George Marshall and Deondre Parks combined for 54 points and two other Jackrabbits scored in double figures, as South Dakota State extended its home winning streak to 24, while at the same time snapping Fort Wayne's seven game winning streak with a 92-76 win on Thursday at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits improve to 14-4 with the win overall, and to 3-1 in The Summit League, while the Mastodons fall to 14-5 overall with the same 3-1 mark in league play.
"I was a little shocked that we scored 92 points, because it still feels like we're not clicking offensively," head coach Scott Nagy said. "We ran a lot more sets early and we just played very slowly, and I got tired of watching that, so we just went motion, and it was better."
The Jacks opened on an 8-0 run, but the Mastodons scored the next six, and later tied the game at 13 before using a 7-0 run later in the half to take a 27-20 lead with 7 minutes, 28 seconds left in the first half.
SDSU fought back to tie the game at 28, and then got the lead back to four points at 32-28 before taking a 39-38 lead into halftime.
IPFW scored the first basket of the second half and led 44-41 with 18:45 left, but the Jackrabbits used a 14-3 run to take a 55-47 lead, and kept their foot on the gas to increase the lead to 10 at 62-52 on a Keaton Moffitt layup with just over 12 minutes on the clock.
The Mastodons would cut the lead to as few as four points, but the Jacks quickly got it back to double figures and kept building on it until reaching the final 16 point margin.
Marshall's career-high 28 points led all players in the game, while Parks' 26 tied his career-high. SDSU also got 14 points and 6 rebounds from Mike Daum, who made his first-career start, with Ian Theisen adding 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
A pair of Mastodons also score more than 20 points, with Max Landis leading the way with 23 and John Konchar close behind with 22 to go with his game-high 13 rebounds. Joe Reed contributed 11 points in the loss.
The Jackrabbits look to start a new winning streak, and pick up their first Summit League road win of the season, on Saturday against North Dakota State. The Jacks and Bison tip at 4:30 p.m. from Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D.
