For the first time since The Summit League Championship Finals on March 10, South Dakota State and North Dakota State meet on Saturday at Scheels Arena in Fargo, N.D. at 4:30 p.m.
The Jackrabbits and Bison shared the regular season title last season, but NDSU outlasted the Jacks in the tournament title game to earn the league's NCAA Tournament bid, while the Jackrabbits settled for an NIT berth, where the won their opening round game at Colorado State.
Picked first in the preseason poll, the Jackrabbits look to create some separation in the league standings with a win, while the Bison, picked to finish second in the preseason poll, hope to even the league records of both teams at 3-2.
Both teams enter the game looking to start a new winning streak, as the Jacks downed IPFW, 92-76 on Thursday in Brookings, while the Bison beat South Dakota, 66-65, on Wednesday in Fargo.
THE OPPONENT
NORTH DAKOTA STATE BISON (12-6, 2-2 Summit, 7-1 Home): The two-time defending Summit League champions entered the season picked to finish second in the preseason poll. They opened league play with a dominating 75-49 home win over Denver, only to fall 91-82 at home to Omaha and 66-65 at Oral Roberts before downing South Dakota by the same 66-65 score on Wednesday.
THE SERIES vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE
The Bison lead the all-time series 114-99, with a 63-35 edge in Fargo and wins in four of the last five meetings.
The Jacks and Bison first met on Jan. 19, 1910, a 44-24 NDSU win in Brookings.
