SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The South Dakota State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 nonconference match Sunday at Missouri State at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
With the loss, SDSU falls to 10-7 overall while MSU improved to 8-10.
"Today was another grind fest and I thought we fought well. We just had about a 45-minute spurt in singles where we let MSU carry momentum for too long," sixth-year head coach Michael Engdahl said. "With the group of upperclassmen, it will be an easy fix for us moving forward. When the fight is there you can't ask for much more."
The Jackrabbits won the doubles point for the 11th time this season to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Senior Ffion Davies and junior Iasmin Rosa won 6-3 at No. 1 while senior Tacy Haws-Lay and freshman Morgan Brower won 6-1 at No. 3.
SDSU went up 2-0 in the match when Brower won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6. MSU won the next four singles matches to secure the win. Davies won in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 2.
The Jacks return to action when they play at Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo., Thursday at 2 p.m. and then Friday at 2 p.m. at Denver.
