SPRINGFIELD, Missouri—The South Dakota State women's golf team erased a 10-stroke deficit and shot a final round 287 to win the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial Tuesday by three strokes over UTEP.
The MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial is the second consecutive title the Jackrabbits have won this fall. They captured the UNO Invitational Sept. 3-4, and now have nine regular-season titles in school history, including seven in the last two seasons.
SDSU finished with an 896 (301-308-287) on the par-71, 6,017-yard Twin Oaks Country Club golf course. It's final round 287 ranks as the second-best 18-hole score in school history.
The Jackrabbits put on a clinic on the course with the five-scoring players shooting no higher than 72 in the final round.
Senior
Hallie Getz tied for third, firing a final round 72 (76-73-72=221). Classmates
Megan Mingo (76-76-72=224) and
Islamiah Fuad (75-77-72) tied for seventh as both shot 72s Tuesday.
Freshman
Teresa Toscano shot a team-low 71 in the final round to tie for 13
th (74-82-71=227) and rookie
Sydney Bormann tied for 50
th after firing a final round 72 (82-83-72=137).
Playing as an individual, junior
Natcha Srimaneerungroj tied for 56
th (81-76-81=238).
The Jackrabbits return to action Sept. 25-27 at the Chip-N Club hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
