After winning its first two tournaments of the season, the South Dakota State women's golf team returns to Nebraska for the Chip-N Club Invitational in Lincoln this weekend in hopes of a third title.
The Jackrabbits, who won the UNO Invitational Sept. 3-4 and the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial Sept. 12-13, are among the 11-team field that includes Summit League members North Dakota State, Omaha and South Dakota.
Play is Sunday through Tuesday at the par-72, 6,276-yard Wilderness Ridge Golf Course at the Country Club of Lincoln. The teams and individuals play 18 holes Sunday and Monday with tee times off the No. 1 and No. 10 holes at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
Last season at the Chip-N Club Invitational, the Jackrabbits shot an 890 (295-299-296) and finished second in the 13-team field. Senior
Megan Mingo was SDSU's top finisher, tying for sixth (73-69-76=218).
Mingo leads the Jackrabbits and is third in The Summit League in stroke average (73.5). The Yankton, native finished second at the UNO Invitational and tied for seventh in Missouri.
Senior
Hallie Getz's 74.33 stroke average is second on the team and fourth in the league. She was South Dakota State's top finisher at the MSU/Payne Stewart, tying for third.
Senior
Islamiah Fuad posted a 74.67 stroke average in the season opener and returns to the lineup this weekend.
Freshmen
Teresa Toscano and
Sydney Bormann and junior
Natcha Srimaneerungroj are also in the lineup after playing the first two tournaments. Toscano has a 74.83 stroke average and placed fourth in Nebraska. Bormann was seventh at UNO and has a 77.67 stroke average. Srimaneerungroj played in Missouri and has a 79.33 stroke average.
The Jackrabbits lead The Summit League by 3.5 strokes with a 297.8 scoring average.
