The South Dakota State equestrian dropped to No. 5 Baylor, 14-2 Friday in round 1 of the Willis Invitational in Waco, Texas.

"Though today wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, we were able to make the necessary adjustments and come back stronger in the second round," head coach
Ellie Wilkins said. "We need to carry this momentum into the meets tomorrow to end on a positive note."

Equitation over Fences started the meet with
Jacey Chorlton winning the lone point, defeating Abby Jorgensen, 73-72.
Jessica Andronowitz,
Jessica Martinez and
Alissa Greenwald also competed in the discipline. Baylor swept the Jackrabbits in Equitation on the Flat, 4-0.

On the Western side,
Nicole Siebold also won her point, dropping Kelsie Holman, 69.5-65.5.
Kelsey Swainston,
Angela Lopez and
Victoria Johnson all fought hard, but fell short in their scores. Baylor also swept in Reining, 4-0.

In Round 2, SDSU is currently tied with No. 9 Fresno State, 4-4.

In Equitation on the Flat,
Jacey Chorlton topped Genna Fogelberg, 67-51, while
Natalie Howard defeated Madelyn Keck, 75-69.

Alicia Johnson won her first point for the Jackrabbits dropping Hailey Robison, 67.5-64.
Miranda Sullivan captured her first point of the season with a 67.5-64 decision over Taylor Dixon.
