The South Dakota State women's basketball team concludes a three-game homestand Wednesday when it plays IUPUI at 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits enter the game ranked No. 6 in the latest CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll while IUPUI is receiving votes.

SDSU is in a four-way tie for first in the Summit League standings with records of 12-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.

The Jackrabbits improved to 6-1 this season in Frost Arena Jan. 7 with a 76-64 win over Omaha. Kerri Young scored a career-high 27 points and Sydney Palmer added a personal-best 20 points. Ellie Thompson recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

IUPUI lost both its games this past weekend, falling 64-44 at Omaha and 75-62 at South Dakota. The Jaguars are 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Wednesday's game is the 21st meeting between the Jackrabbits and the Jaguars. State leads the all-time series, 15-5, has won the last three home games in the series and is 8-1 in Frost Arena vs. IUPUI.

Noteworthy

SDSU is 462-116 (.799) all-time in home games, including 71-7 (.910) in home Summit League games. It has won its last eight home league games and is 40-2 (.952) in the last five seasons.
State has won 412 of its last 500 home encounters, good for a remarkable .824 winning percentage.
The Jackrabbits are 233-81 (.742) in all-time games since joining The Summit League in 2007-08.
The Jacks have won 41 of their last 49 league games, dating to a 63-57 win over IUPUI Jan. 9, 2014.
Of its eight Summit League opponents in the last 10 years, SDSU has five losses to IUPUI, four to South Dakota, two to North Dakota State and one each to Denver, Fort Wayne and Western Illinois. The most losses have been to Oral Roberts (6).
SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston, who won his 400th game Dec. 11, enters Wednesday's game with a 404-137 (.746) overall record and a 130-26 (.833) league mark.

Jackrabbits in Mid-Major Poll

After spending the first four weeks of the season atop the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll, South Dakota State is sixth in Tuesday's poll.
SDSU has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll 92 of the last 93 weeks.
With its 26 first-place votes in the preseason poll, SDSU is the first team in The Summit League history to earn a top national preseason ranking.
The Jackrabbits were ranked first in the final 2015-16 poll, their highest-ever ranking.

A Quick Glance at South Dakota State

Seventeenth-year head coach Aaron Johnston's probable starters for the fifth consecutive game are:

            Alexis Alexander, point guard
            Madison Guebert, guard
            Kerri Young, guard
            Sydney Palmer, guard
            Ellie Thompson, forward

The starting lineup is 3-1 this season.
SDSU has had three different starting lineups after the Jackrabbits' leading scoring Macy Miller (Dec. 9) and leading rebounder Clarissa Ober (Dec. 21) suffered injuries that forced them from the starting five.
Guebert is currently SDSU's leading scorer, averaging 14.4 points per game. Young (12.7) and Thompson (11.4) are the other Jacks averaging double digits in scoring.
SDSU averages 68.3 points per game. Four different Jackrabbits have led the team in scoring this season.
State has held 11 of its 16 opponents to 65-or-less points, including four to less than 50.
There have been at least three Jackrabbits scoring in double digits in 11 of 16 games.
On the boards, Ober was SDSU's leading rebounder, grabbing 7.5 caroms an outing. Thompson averages 6.6 caroms a game. The Jackrabbits are outrebounding opponents by 3.1 caroms.
The Jackrabbits' top 3-point threat is Guebert, who is sinking 3.0 treys per game and shooting 43.4 percent.
Young is the Jacks' top playmaker, dishing 2.9 assists per game.
The Jacks have a plus-0.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.
SDSU is shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from 3-point range and 72.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Glance at IUPUI

IUPUI is 3-2 in its last five games and enters Wednesday's game 0-2 on its three-game road swing.
The Jaguars are 5-3 overall on the road. In their last outing, they lost at South Dakota, 75-62.
IUPUI is led offensively by junior Danielle Lawrence. The guard is averaging 14.8 points per game. The Jaguars are averaging 68.9 points per game.
Senior forward Mikale Rogers and sophomore guard Sydney Hall are also averaging double digits, scoring 14.1 and 10.9 points per game, respectively.
Rogers averages a team-leading 7.4 rebounds. The Jags are outrebounding opponents by 1.9 caroms a game.
Senior guard Kelsi Bird is also dishing 2.7 assists per game. Three others have 30-or-more assists.
Hall is IUPUI's top 3-point threat, sinking 36 3-pointers and shooting 47.4 percent.
IUPUI has six players averaging 5-or-more points and eight averaging 10-or-more minutes per game.
The Jaguars are shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from 3-point range and 74.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Breaking Down the IUPUI Series

Wednesday's game will be the 21st meeting between SDSU and IUPUI. The Jacks lead the series 15-5 and have won 7 of the last 12 meetings, but have won their last three games in Frost Arena.
SDSU won the first 12 games in the series before the Jaguars snapped the win streak in 2013.
The lone overtime game in the series was last year when the Jackrabbits won 68-66 in double overtime Jan. 21, 2015.
