South Dakota State's
Sam Zenner broke the school record in the 60-meter dash, and the Jacks' won five events Saturday at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

The South Dakota State men finished with a final score of 101 to earn the top spot, while the women finished with a total of 79 points for second place in the team rankings.

Sam Zenner broke the school record in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 6.84 seconds for second place. The previous school record of 6.87 seconds was set by
LeAndre Kennedy in 2016. On Saturday, Kennedy finished three spots behind Zenner, posting a time of 6.94 seconds.

The most dramatic finish of the day came in the final event, with South Dakota State taking the top spot in the 4x400-meter relay by less than one-tenth of a second. Anchor
Adam Belhaj was in third with 100-meters to go. He closed the distance and passed NDSU's Jonah Warwick just before the finish line. The men's 4x400-meter relay team consisted of
Landon Larson,
Alejandro Sanchez,
Dru Kenny and Belhaj and finished in 3:16.43.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Savannah Dolezal,
Kayla McDonald,
Jacleen Patterson, and
Oksana Covey finished in 3:49.44 for second place. That mark is good for third on the women's 4x400 top-10 list.

Rachel King won the 3,000-meter run title with a time of 9:54.92.
Emily Donnay was close behind, finishing in 9:55.45 for second place.

In the mile run,
Kyle Burdick took the title in a personal-best 4:11.38.
Joel Reichow finished in 4:15.58 for fifth place.

Carly Carper recorded a time of 7.57 seconds in the 60-meter dash to win the title. It is her second title in the event in as many races on the season. Carper also finished second in the 200-meter dash (24.90).

Zach Koosman and
Bryant Courter finished in a three-way tie for first place in the high jump, clearing 6-08.75. Courter also finished second in the long jump, recording a distance of 23-07.50 to move into fourth on the top-10 list.

Jake Lieberg finished third (47-01.75) and Courter finished fourth (47-00.25) in the triple jump.

Monique Mack tied a personal best in the high jump clearing a mark of 5-06.0.

In throws,
Colton Bender posted a personal-best weight throw of 65-0 to earn second place.
Silvia Zanini followed up a strong performance in the first meet of the season with another one Saturday, throwing a distance of 60-05.0 in the weight throw.

Sandra Gramer posted a personal best in the 600-meter run, finishing in 1:37.21.

What's Next
The Jackrabbits' will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to compete in the Jack Jennett Invitational on Jan. 28.
