PEORIA, Illinois—In its final nonleague match of the season, the South Dakota State volleyball team defeated UMKC 3-1 Saturday afternoon in the CEFCU Invitational in the Renaissance Coliseum.

The Jackrabbits (2-11) won 25-21, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-16 over UMKC (4-9).

Sophomore
Makenzie Hennen had a match-high 13 kills. Junior and all-tournament selection
Sierra Peterson and sophomore
Ashlynn Smith had 11 kills each. Smith added a career-high 16 digs for the double-double. Junior
Mattison Munger had 26 set assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
Ellie Benson had a match-best and season-high 25 digs.

Turning Points
In the first set, Peterson registered a pair of kills in the final three plays for the win.

With the set tied at 22-22, the Jackrabbits got a block from freshman
Macy Smith and Munger and then a kill from Hennen for the win.

UMKC had three kills to help it break a 20-20 tie and win the third set.

After a 12-12 tie, South Dakota State used a 15-3 run to win the set and the match.

Notables
- Hanna Jellema recorded a career-high six kills. Macy Smith registered a career-best two solo blocks and five total blocks.
- Mattison Munger had 26 set assists and now has 1,810 career assists. She ranks 10th on the SDSU career assists list.
- The Jackrabbits had 10 block assists vs. UMKC. It was the seventh time this season with 10-or-more block assists in a match.
