MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – The South Dakota State women's tennis team concluded day two of the Gopher Invitational hosted by Minnesota on Friday.

The Brower sisters, Morgan and Sidney, defeated Walker and Tucker from Omaha, 7-5 before falling to Freeman and Espinola of Iowa State, 6-0.

Katerina Tretyakova and
Emilly Van Dijk lost to Cancini and Repina of Iowa State, 6-1 then dropped a 6-1 decision to Palumbo and Hartnett from North Dakota.

Theodora Kyriakopoulou and
Marta-Anna Tynna defeated Small and Merrick of Northern Iowa, 6-2. The duo lost 6-5 to Novakovic and Foe of Marquette in their second match.

In singles, Tretyakova was upended 6-2, 6-1 in the first round before falling to a 6-2, 6-1 decision in the second.

Tynna fell to Kemper Gisela of UNI 6-2, 6-3, and then was topped 6-0, 6-0 by Janelle Wilson of Omaha.

Kyriakopoulou went 2-0 on the day when she defeated Savanna Hunt of UNI 6-3, 6-1 then upended Savanna Crowell of Omaha, 3-6, 6-6, 6-4.

Zorka Sara Sviben dropped a 6-2, 6-2 mark in the first round then a 6-3, 6-4 decision in the second.

Freshman
Daria Yakovleva was upended 6-3, 6-2 by Melania Jaglarz from Drake then received a bye in the second round.

Sidney Brower fell 6-1, 6-1 to Erin Freeman of Iowa State before defeating Kate Merrick of UNI, 6-3, 6-1.

Van Dijk topped Valentina Caro from UNI 6-3, 6-1 to move on to the next round before falling to Marina Cozac of Nebraska, 6-0, 6-2.

Junior
Morgan Brower won the battle against Emily Rees of Nebraska, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 then was topped by Karyna Bihel from Minnesota, 6-3, 6-3.
