CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – South Dakota State women's soccer dropped a 1-0 contest to Northern Iowa Friday evening at Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.

SDSU fell to 2-4-1 on the year while UNI improved to 6-0.

The Jacks recorded 11 shots on the night, while the Panthers took 12 with the lone score of the game.

Maggie Smither recorded six saves for State, increasing her record to 32 on the season.

Tori Poole took the first shot of the game just under the eight-minute mark as it went high over the crossbar.Â
Kyli Nelson followed close behind with a shot at 13:58.

Annie Williams also took shots in the first half.

Scoreless through the opening frame, SDSU and UNI continued the battle for the ball as each team continued to make numerous attacks.

The Panthers broke the stalemate in the 84th minute with a goal by Brynell Yount as it bounced off the right bar and into the net.

State pushed for a game-tying goal down the stretch with two shots by Williams (84:35 and 85:39), but the Jacks fell short of extending the game past regulation.
