KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The United Soccer Coaches organization announced on Tuesday its NCAA Division I Women's All-Region teams. South Dakota State's
Lauren Eckerle was chosen as a Second Team All-West Region selection for her performance on the pitch during the 2025 season.
A senior defender, Eckerle led the Jackrabbits in minutes played (1,770) while starting all 21 matches she appeared in. The Hugo, Minn., native finished the year with career highs in assists (6), points (8), shots (11) and shots on goal (11). Eckerle paced SDSU's back line that helped the Jackrabbits lead The Summit League in goals-against average (.682) and finish 23rd nationally.
Eckerle was previously selected as a First Team All-Summit League performer. She played all 90 minutes in three consecutive shutout victories in the Jackrabbits' conference tournament run to claim the Summit League title for a third straight season. For her efforts, Eckerle was honored as the Tournament MVP and an All-Tournament recipient.
A two-year captain for the SDSU soccer program, Eckerle finished her playing career for the Jackrabbits this fall. She was a member of three conference tournament championship teams that made a trio of NCAA Tournament trips. She finished her tenure in Yellow and Blue among SDSU's top 20 all time in career assists (10) and top 30 in minutes played (4,943).
Eckerle is the first Jackrabbit to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in two years. The previous SDSU players to claim accolades in 2023 were
Kaycee Manding (First Team),
Avery Murdzek (First Team) and Reagan Anderson (Third Team).
South Dakota State closed the 2025 campaign with a 13-3-6 record. The Jackrabbits won their ninth Summit League tournament championship, setting the conference record in the process. SDSU's season ended with a 1-0 defeat at No. 5 seed Iowa. The Jackrabbits have won a total of 16 conference championships including 10 tournament titles.
