Coming off its 12th consecutive postseason trip and 21st 20-win season, the South Dakota State women's basketball team opens its 53rd basketball campaign Tuesday when it travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to play its first nationally ranked team this season in 19th-ranked Marquette in the Al McGuire Center.

The Jackrabbits, 26-7 last season, defeated Concordia (Neb.), 80-46, Oct. 25 and Mary (N.D.), 77-46, Nov. 1 in exhibition games.

Marquette is coming off a 24-10 season where it reached the NCAA second round. The Golden Eagles lost to Grand Valley State, 77-75, in their lone exhibition Nov. 1.

Noteworthy
- The Jackrabbits have won six of their last seven road games, dating to a 69-58 win at Denver Jan. 11, 2018.
- SDSU is looking for its fifth consecutive season-opening win Tuesday. Last season, the Jacks defeated NJIT, 92-48, in Frost Arena.
- The Jacks have never opened the season against a ranked team.
- South Dakota State lost to Marquette the last time the Golden Eagles were ranked. It lost 80-63 Dec. 31, 2006, in Frost Arena.
- Last year, State went 10-4 in nonleague games.
- Both the Jackrabbits and the Golden Eagles were picked to win their respective leagues.
- Tuesday's game is the fifth meeting between South Dakota State and Marquette. The Jacks trail in the series 4-0. The last meeting between the teams was Nov. 28, 2012, when the Golden Eagles won 77-74 in overtime in Frost Arena.
- SDSU is 7-15 against teams from the Big East Conference and 10-9 versus teams from Wisconsin.
