FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The South Dakota State University baseball team ran its winning streak to four games Friday by sweeping a Summit League doubleheader at Purdue Fort Wayne.
In winning at Mastodon Field by scores of 5-4 and 12-2, the Jackrabbits improved to 13-10 overall and 6-2 in league play. Purdue Fort Wayne dropped to 4-20 overall and 0-8 in The Summit League.
Game 1: SDSU 5, Purdue Fort Wayne 4
The Jackrabbits scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth and held off PFW in the final two innings for their third consecutive one-run win in the opener.

Drew Beazley worked around a one-out walk in the ninth to secure his third save of the season.
The Jackrabbits cracked the scoring column first with an unearned run in the fourth.
Gus Steiger reached on an error before
Braeden Brown came through with a run-scoring double to left-center. Brown added another RBI in the fifth as SDSU regained the lead at 3-2 when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Ira singled in the first run of the inning.
Steiger's run-scoring single in the top of the seventh pushed the SDSU lead to 4-2, but the Mastodons countered with two runs in the home half of the inning. Alec Brunson's run-scoring single drew PFW to within a run and knocked out Jackrabbit starter Olmstead. Barnett came on in relief, but issued a bases-loaded walk to knot the game at 4-all.
Olmstead struck out four and walked two over 6 1/3 innings, while Barnett recorded strikeouts on three of the four outs he recorded.
Besides earning the save, Beazley was the lone Jackrabbit with more than one hit by going 2-for-5 with two runs scored as he began the game at first base. SDSU finished with an 8-7 advantage in hits; Jack Lang and Trenton Stoner each tallied a pair of hits for the Mastodons.
Game 2: SDSU 12, Purdue Fort Wayne 2 (7 inn.)
The Jackrabbits scored in six of the seven innings they batted, ending the game early via the 10-run rule with a 12-2, seven-inning victory.
Landon Badger paced the SDSU offense with three hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored, highlighted by a two-run double in the third inning and an RBI single in the fifth.
After scoring an unearned run in the first inning, the Jackrabbits tacked on four runs in the second.
Nick Smith tripled in one run and Steiger added a run-scoring single. The other two runs came across on a wild pitch and groundout.
Leading 9-2 through six innings, the Jackrabbits put the 10-run rule into effect with a three-run top of the seventh. Beazley and Steiger each delivered RBI singles, with the final run scoring on a sacrifice fly by Ira.
Smith, Steiger and Ira each added a pair of hits for SDSU, which held a 12-4 edge in the hit department.
Andrew Lawvere homered to lead off the bottom of the second inning for Purdue Fort Wayne, while Aaron Chapman added a run-scoring single in the fourth. Robert Young III had both of the Mastodons' other two hits.

Ryan Froom improved to 3-1 on the season with a six-inning start in which he struck out six and walked three.
Brett Mogen pitched a perfect seventh inning to close out the victory.

Due to rain in the forecast throughout Saturday, the series finale has been moved to Notre Dame's Frank Eck Stadium and will be played at noon Eastern Time (11 a.m. Central) on Sunday.
