The Jackrabbits split among two meets in California on Thursday - the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and Bryan Clay Invitational. A total of 10 Jackrabbits record 19 personal-best marks with five top-10 marks.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - With a majority of the South Dakota State track and field team on Jack Rose Track Thursday, seven Jackrabbits earned eight personal-best resets and a top-10 4x100m relay mark.

The men's 4x100m relay squad opened their season up with the school's No. 2 all-time mark (second, 40.55) with freshman
Emmanual Phoulom-Smith into the fold along with school-record partners
Coby Hilton,
Daniel Clarke, and
Sam Zenner.

Throughout the 2018 season, the men's 4x100m relay team (Hilton, Jr.
Landon Larson, Clarke, Zenner) added the second-best mark (40.94) all-time at Drake before resetting the school record at Nebraska (40.84) and ending with the Summit League Championship record and pushing the SDSU record for the second time (40.40). Another combination of the relay team had the third-best all-time mark (now No. 4) at the Tulsa Duals (
Jalen Williams ('18), Larson, Clarke, Zenner).

Jaymie O'Connor reset her school-record and personal-best mark for the second time this season (ninth, 13.74). She first reset her school-record mark at the South Dakota Challenge and posted her PR from 2018 at last year's Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (14.00w, was No. 2 all-time).

Reid Pierzinski was the lone Jackrabbit adding multiple personal-best marks in Long Beach, notching one in the 110m hurdles (16th, 14.91w) and again in the 400m hurdles (fourth, 54.05). He is close to both school's top 10 lists - 0.22 seconds from the 110m hurdles list (teammate
Nick Wessels is No. 10) and 0.23 seconds from the 400m hurdles (the list hasn't been touched since 2014).

Mitchel Acker, and
Caleb Bray all added career-best marks in the 400m with Covey tallying the school's No. 6 all-time mark (eighth, 56.34). It's her second reset of the season, first missing the list by 0.02 seconds and now being the first Jackrabbit into the list since 2017.

Emily Berzonsky cut times in their respective heats of the 5,000m at Bryan Clay on Thursday evening. Berzonsky led off and trimmed 5.90 seconds off her previous-best (from the 2017 Bryan Clay Invite) to claim a new overall PR (heat five - 12th, 17:17.22).

Donnay was up on the track next and cut 0.89 seconds off her previous-best (from the 2018 Bryan Clay Invite) to remain No. 10 all-time for SDSU (heat four - seventh, 17:01.33).

REMAINING WEEKEND PLANS -Â Full Preview
Friday -Â SDSU will comeback to the Bryan Clay and open with track events at 11:40 a.m. and field events as early as 11 a.m. CT (flights still being determined, men's long jump starts at 11 a.m. CT). Track events that are shorter than 1,500m will be seeded 20 minutes prior to the race (no heat sheets readily available). Running events 1,500m and longer will be seeded by Wednesday night (field events should be as well).Â
While the Bryan Clay Invitational is occurring in California, Jackrabbits will also compete at the Red Raider Open on Friday, leading off with field events at 3:30 p.m. CT and track events 7 p.m. CT.
There will also be SDSU student-athletes at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on the track, starting at 12:30 p.m. on a rolling schedule (event schedule does not list approximate starting times for events). Unattached freshmanÂ
Daniel Burkhalter is penciled to comepete in the Blue Hawk Games, hosted by Dickinson State, on Friday as well (times still awaiting to be established).
Saturday -Â The Red Raider Open will be under full swing and Jacks in California should be finished. Field events begin at 11 a.m. CT while track events begin at 1 p.m. CT.
