SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State golfer
Jacob Otta won the Men's College division of the 2019 Sanford Futures Golf Championship, Tuesday.
In all, five Jackrabbit men's golfers were competing in the event.
Otta shot a 1-over to finish atop the leaderboard (72-72-71=215) at the three-round event. Day one held two rounds, played at The Falls Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, a par-72, 7,110-yard course.
Round three's 18 holes concluded with Otta pulling away with the win at the par-70, 6,520-yard Willow Run Golf Course.
A pair of incoming freshmen followed, with
Matthew Schaefer finishing tied for fifth at 4-over (67-77-74=218) and
Noah Boraas placing 10th at 10-over (78-72-74=224).
Jonah Dohrer placed 18th, shooting a 232 (77-80-75) at 18-over.
Lucas Schaefbauer, another newcomer, finished tied for 19th at 20-over (78-80-76=234). Schaefbauer won the Boys 16-18 division at last year's event.
