HARRIS, Mich. - The South Dakota State men's golf team opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the Island Resort Intercollegiate at Sage Run Golf Club that wrapped up on Monday.

The Jackrabbits posted an 864 (E) team score over three rounds, good for eighth in the 12-team field. Michigan ran away with the team title at 823 (-41).

Ty Adkins paced the Jackrabbit lineup, carding a 213 (-3) to finish in a tie for 15th place. Drew Teeter also cracked the top 30, posting an even-par 216 to tie for 27th. Jake Olson tallied a 218 (+2) to tie for 34th, Caleb Kern posted a 219 (+3) in a tie for 38th, and Jacob Wilson tied for 61st at 223 (+7) to round out the scoring.

Four Jackrabbits competed as individuals. Charlie Allen and Mason Eaton each shot 220 (+4) to share a tie for 45th, Riley Christensen finished 73rd (228, +12) and Hayden Scott rounded out the SDSU contingent in 79th (240, +24).

Michigan's RJ Arone claimed medalist honors, closing at 202 (-14) for the three rounds.

NOTES

Adkins' tie for 15th was the best finish among SDSU's five counting scores, as all five Jackrabbit lineup golfers finished within 10 shots of one another (213-223).

The Jackrabbits will head to Manhattan, Kansas, to compete in the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Course on September 14th and 15th.
