DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced Thursday afternoon that it will be canceling its 2020 equestrian tournament (March 26-28) in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
South Dakota State had been awarded the five-seed in the tournament and was scheduled to face UT Martin, March 26.
"Our concern is focused on the health and well-being of our student-athletes, families, and campus communities and we are hopeful that everyone will remain in good health over the next few weeks during this unprecedented situation," said NCEA Executive Director and ECAC-EQ Liaison, Dr. Leah Fiorentino. "We regret that this occurred, and we thank Delaware State for their ongoing efforts to host a first-class event."
At this time, the NCEA National Championship remains scheduled for April 15-18.
Further information regarding South Dakota State University athletics events, including postseason competitions, will be posted when available.
