The
Omaha World-Herald released its Nebraska high school all-decade team last month, with five Jackrabbits featured among the six-class squad.
Baylor Scheierman,
David Wingett,
Mike Daum, Adam Dykman and Charlie Easley were listed as the best of the decade by the Nebraska newspaper.
Scheierman, who played at Aurora High School, was a two-time All-State, All-Area and All-Conference honoree on the court and helped his team to a Nebraska State Class C1 State Football Championship as a senior. He averaged 22.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game as a senior, and recently concluded his freshman campaign with the Jackrabbits. In his first season at SDSU, the 6-6 guard appeared in 32 games with six points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists on average.
Wingett, another freshman on the 2019-20 Jackrabbit men's squad, graduated from Winnebago high School as on the top prep scorers of all-time, finishing with over 2,200 points while helping his team to the 2015 Class C1 State Championship. The Winnebago, Nebraska native averaged over 20 points and nearly five rebounds in his high school career, and this season at SDSU started the final 19 contests, tallying 8.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game for the Jacks. He also buried 57 3-pointers, finishing second among the Jackrabbits in triples.
Daum, a 2019 Jackrabbit graduate, turned in one of the most storied careers in NCAA basketball history. He scored over 3,000 points, finishing as the seventh-highest scorer in NCAA Division I and was a three-time Summit League Player of the Year. Before a career that culminated as the league's first-ever consensus All-American, however, Daum played four seasons at Kimball High School and was a first team all-conference performer in his final two years. The 6-9 big man averaged a team- and state-high 25 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks per game as a senior, earning all-state nods from the
Omaha World Herald, Lincoln Journal Star and McCook Gazette following his junior and senior seasons.
Dykman, Nebraska's 2015 Mr. Basketball, averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks per game as a senior at Archbishop Bergan High School. He helped the Knights to a third-place finish in the Class C1 state tournament, and was a two-time all-state performer. The Fremont, Nebraska native spent two seasons with the Jackrabbits (2015-16, 2016-17).
Easley is a sophomore transfer who spent last season at Nebraska. He won the 2019 Class B State Championship with Pius High School, averaging 23 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.1 steals per game. The 6-2 sharpshooter buried 51 percent from the field in his final season of prep play, capping a career that saw him earn first team All-Nebraska honors as a junior and senior.
