MEN'S TEAM FALLS IN SEASON-OPENER

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The South Dakota State men's swim and dive team fell in its season-opening meet, 128.5-75.5, against St. Cloud State.
The Jackrabbits started the two-day meet on Sunday with diving before completing the swimming events Monday afternoon.
On Sunday, sophomore Spencer Fritze took first in the one meter dive with a score of 287.90, while Erik Thompson followed in third place with 233.35 points.
On the three-meter board, Spencer Fritze took second with 248.55, Zach Boyd finished third with a score of 225.15, and Erik Thomspn finished fifth with 200.40.
Also making the trip on Sunday, women's divers Qunicee Simonson finished runner-up with 244.45 in the women's one meter dive, while Julia Gill took fifth with 224.65, Abbi Rouse came in seventh with 223.05 points and Aleni Stoakes finished eighth with 202.55.
On the three meter board, Qunicee Simonson would finish fourth with 234.15 points, while Abbi Rouse came in fifth with 212.85.

On Monday the Jackrabbit men hit the water for their first competition in nearly a year.
SDSU's 200 medley relay team of Jared Miller, Gavin Wheeler, Maz White and Henry Skinner came in second place with a mark of 1:39.60, while the squad of Marcus Benson, Quenton Steffen, Naested Smit and Will Bierschbach followed closely, finishing third in a time of 1:40.81. Finishing in less than another second, Austin Morris, Chad Anderson, Caleb Harthoorn and Justin Waller finished fourth in 1:41.18.
In the 1000 freestyle, Parker Brown finished runner-up in with a time of 10:23.62, Damon Venner grabbed third with a 10:57.88 and Reece Stikeleather rounded out the group with a mark of 11:26.31.
Matt Sorenson picked up a third place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.57. Charles Sieglaff finished second in the men's 50 free in a time of 21.91. Cayden Christianson took second in the 20 IM with a time of 2:00.34. Max White took second in the 100 fly with a 54.49 clocking. Alex Kraft touched second in the men's 100 yard free, finishing in 49.16. Jared Miller took third in the men's 100 yard back with a time of 54.39. Gavin Wheeler was named runner-up in the 100 yard breast in a time of 1:01.96 while Quenton Steffen followed, taking third with a 1:03.64.
SDSU's 400 free relay team of Liam Murray, Matt Sorenson, Charles Sieglaff and Alex Kraft finished off the road trip with a second place finish with a 3:19.39 clocking.
