South Dakota State will travel to Colorado Thursday night for a matchup at Denver.
SERIES HISTORY
SDSU is 2-16 in the Jackrabbit-Pioneers series. Denver swept both meetings last season.
Crystal Burk led the Jackrabbits with 13 kills and added seven digs the last time these teams met. Tori Thompson and Akeela Jefferson tallied six and five kills, respectively, while Hailee Blau tied a career-best three blocks. Tatum Pickar also had seven digs.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Denver has dropped just one Summit match this season and holds a 5-1 League mark. The Pioneers beat North Dakota and North Dakota State last week.
Denver uses a balanced attack with three players averaging more than 2.25 kills per set. Lydia Bartalo puts down 2.90 kills per set and Tina Boe attacks at a .440 rate, which tops the Summit League.
Ellie Anderson and Lorrin Poulter average 6.08 and 4.52 assists per set. Defensively, Gianna Bartalo has 201 digs on the season and notches 3.79 per set to lead the Pioneers. Boe has 61 total blocks and 1.17 per set, which is third in the League.
THE JACKRABBITS
A 3-0 home stand over the last six days pushed SDSU to 12-6 on the season and 4-3 in Summit action. The Jacks beat Western Illinois, St. Thomas and North Dakota State at Frost Arena.
Crystal Burk is second in the Summit League with 3.84 kills per set. Chloe Stitt is also on that list, averaging 2.97 kills per set for eighth. Sydney Andrews is the most efficient Jackrabbit attacker with a .333 attack rate and ranks sixth in the League.
Carly Wedel gives out 9.93 assists per set, ranking fourth in the Summit League. Tatum Pickar is the reigning Summit League Defensive Player of the Week and paces the Jacks' back row with 4.02 digs per set and is sixth in the Summit. Faith Saewert adds a 2.41 average and Burk is just behind with 2.40 digs per set. Ella Thompson tallies 1.00 blocks per set and sits eighth in the Summit League.
LAST TIME OUT
SDSU beat North Dakota State 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21) Tuesday night at Frost Arena.
Crystal Burk recorded her ninth double-double of the year with 17 kills and 11 digs and hit at a .375 clip, all team highs. Sydney Andrews added 11 kills, her second highest total of the season, and took part in six blocks.
Thompson and Winters added five blocks apiece to go with nine and seven kills, respectively. Reigning Summit League Defensive Player of the Week Tatum Pickar had nine digs and three assists.
Carly Wedel had 44 assists and eight digs.
