KEY STORYLINES

The Jackrabbits return all five starters from last season's Summit League Championship squad, including the Summit's Player of the Year Myah Selland and fellow first-team selections Paiton Burckhard and Tylee Irwin.
Paiton Burckhard needs just three points to join SDSU's 1,000-point club. She would be the 40th member of the list and will join teammates Selland and Irwin, who both reached the career milestone last season.
Jackrabbit freshmen Paige Meyer and Haleigh Timmer combined for 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and just one turnover in the team's season opener Tuesday.
Burckhard, Irwin and Selland were named to the Preseason All-Summit League team.
Selland was tabbed as the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year and was recently named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List along with the Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award Watch List, Naismith Trophy Watch List and Wooden Award Watch List.
Irwin returns for her fifth season with the Jackrabbit squad, using her bonus season as granted by the NCAA due to COVID-19. She averaged averaged 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last season.
SDSU's 2021 League title was its 16th overall and seventh in the regular season.
The Jacks ranked No. 16 nationally in win percentage last season, winning 84% of their games with a 21-4 overall record.
State was picked to finish second in the2021-22 Summit League Preseason Poll, splitting the first-place votes with South Dakota (20-18).
