| Â Exhibition 2 |Â South Dakota State vs. Concordia St. Paul |
Jackrabbit women's basketball is set to host Concordia St. Paul Thursday night at Frost Arena in the team's final exhibition contest.Â
The Jacks opened exhibition play with a 60-45 win over St. Cloud State last week. SDSU is coming off a 21-4 season that ended in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The team returns 13 members of last season's squad, including all five starters and First-Team All-Summit selections
Myah Selland,
Tylee Irwin and
Paiton Burckhard. The trio was recently named to the All-Summit League Preseason First Team with Selland being tabbed as the Preseason Player of the Year. The Jackrabbits were picked to finish second in the Summit League's Preseason Poll after winning the regular season title a season ago.Â
Selland was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention last year and was named to the preseason watch list for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award as well as the Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award earlier this month.
The Golden Bears went 11-6 overall and 9-5 in the NSIC in 2020-21. They lost in the opening round of the Northern Sun's conference tournament to Bemidji State and were picked ninth in the 2021-22 NSIC preseason poll. Riley Wheatcraft was named the CSP Player to Watch for the upcoming season after averaging 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The Golden Bears also return Lindsey Becher, the NSIC South Division Freshman of the Year in 2020-21. She ranked second in the NSIC and sixth in the nation with 2.8 blockers per game and led her team with a .522 field goal percentage.Â
The Jacks and the Golden Bears will tip-off at 7 p.m.Â
